A Little Traveler’s Diary: Hotel Wood in Takayama

I’m 2 years old.

Today, we stayed at Hotel Wood in Takayama, Gifu, just because Daddy and Mommy felt like it.

Honestly, it was such a lovely hotel—I almost don’t want to tell anyone about it!

They had free ice cream! And in the lounge, you could drink alcohol and soft drinks for free!

I’ll also tell you about the places we ate in Takayama, Gifu.

We left home at 6:00 a.m.

Daddy and Mommy got up at 5:00.

Just like always, they bought bread and even made rice balls for us.

On the way, we stopped at a service area and got a new toy!

But… I ended up fighting over it with my big sisters.

So I felt kind of blue after that…

After a few more hours, we finally arrived at Hotel Wood!

I helped carry some bags too!

We got there around 11 a.m.

We arrived early because we wanted to explore the town, and since Daddy contacted the hotel in advance, they let us park the car.

Parking in tourist places is usually expensive, right?

We were super thankful.

They even held our luggage for us.

Thank you, Hotel Wood!

For lunch, we went to a udon shop called Jiku (時空).

The noodles were so smooth and tasty!!

But the air conditioning wasn’t working well…

It was sooo hot!

After udon, we had shaved ice. Where was that again…?

Strawberry shaved ice and milk shaved ice.

Yum yum.

We walked around the town, then checked in to the hotel.

Starting from 5 p.m., you can enjoy alcohol and soft drinks in the lounge.

“It’s the best!” Daddy said.

For dinner, we had Yakiniku at Akariya (灯り家).

Hida beef was so delicious!!

Daddy was still full from the udon at lunch, so he didn’t eat that much.

The ¥5000 course was just the right amount for him.

I was super sleepy and fell asleep in Mommy’s arms on the way back.

After we returned to the hotel, my big sisters had ice cream and orange juice, or so I heard.

Oh, and the ice cream after my bath?

That was the best.

Hotel Wood is truly a place I recommend!

Oh, and by the way, they even let you taste and compare different kinds of sake.

All the sake was from Takayama!
